The survey was conducted from November 7 to 29, 2022, and had 368 responses. Survey invitations were sent to the EDUCAUSE IT Leaders and Institutional Leaders email lists. Respondents represented institutions from across the world.

Twenty interviews at nineteen different institutions were conducted from March 3 to 29, 2023. Interviews lasted between 30 and 60 minutes and were conducted with IT and institutional leaders across a variety of higher education institutions located within the United States, with the exception of one interview of a Columbian institution.
