Strategic Directions
EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology.
EDUCAUSE strategic directions provide guidance for the association as it works to maximize its value to member institutions and the profession. EDUCAUSE continually refines its strategic directions to remain relevant to current needs and issues in higher education technology.
As approved by the EDUCAUSE Board of Directors, the association provides programs, activities, and resources focused on:

2019 Organizational Priorities and Goals
These are the key association priorities for 2019 aligning to our five-year strategic priorities.
Personalization
- Provide enhanced user experiences through personalized email and web communications, targeted content, and improved website wayfinding and performance.
- Create more robust opportunities for members to collaborate and network to address common challenges, share knowledge and learn from one another.
- Utilize enhanced analytics to improve member experience by developing the capacity and a comprehensive approach to tracking engagement, member feedback and satisfaction.
Professional Learning
- Expand capacity for synchronous and asynchronous professional learning opportunities, delivered through a new digital learning environment.
- Deploy professional learning resources to strengthen the leadership pipeline, including new mentoring opportunities, refreshing curriculum for EDUCAUSE Institute programs, expanding microcredential portfolio, and developing career pathway planning tools.
Partnerships and Collaboration
- Establish EDUCAUSE as an influential leader in defining and promoting digital transformation (Dx).
- Develop resources that support senior institutional leaders in address specific institutional challenges and strategic opportunities.
- Build upon the successful work started in 2018 and continue to elevate diversity, equity and inclusion as a priority for the EDUCAUSE community.

- Building the profession

- Fostering the common good: leveraging knowledge and resources to benefit the community

- Taking a leadership role on issues important to the higher education ecosystem
- Partnering with other organizations to advance higher education
- Surfacing emerging trends and supporting innovations that will advance higher education's core missions
3. Building community by:
- Cultivating community: the relationships, commitment, and collective actions it catalyzes
- Facilitating collaboration among members: integrating diverse talents and experience, working together to address common issues, and collecting and sharing relevant data sets and best practices
- Supporting standards and approaches that enable knowledge sharing and collaborative work
4. Expanding diversity and inclusion by:
- Encouraging diversity in perspective, opinion, and representation
- Infusing principles of diversity and inclusion into activities and programming
- Seeking to continually broaden our membership in service of higher education
