Chattanooga State Community College: U Do the Math Program

Abstract

U Do the Math provides an innovative alternative to developmental math, replacing traditional course lectures with a student-centered approach to active learning and subject mastery. Chattanooga State used its grant funding from Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC) to establish and scale the U Do the Math program. The community college, along with partners Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) and the University of Hawaii Maui College (UHMC), implemented the program, and the Education Trust’s Access to Success network disseminated project practices and results to encourage broader adoption.

This grantee profile from NGLC provides at-a-glance information, course model design details, grant project activities, results and outcomes, participant impressions, next steps, and additional resources.
